December Currently!

Once again, I am linking up with Farley for my December Currently!

Listening -- My husband came across the Jersey Boys Christmas album last year and we are absolutely OBSESSED! I love Christmas music as it is, but this is just such an upbeat album! It will get anyone in the spirit!

Loving  -- Christmastime is by FAVORITE time! My in-laws laugh every year at how excited I get... and how sad I am to see it go! My husband and I have already finished Christmas shopping and even put up our tree last night! Decorating will come later this week! Can't wait to post pictures! :)

Thinking -- lesson plans, sub plans for my upcoming absence, Christmas cookie baking, gift wrapping, student support referrals, copies galore, assessment packs... and that is only the tip of the iceberg! This time of year is never short on things to get done!!

Wanting -- This long weekend was lovely ... and oh, so relaxing! But I slacked BIG TIME! I hardly got ANYthing done for work! I have so much to do and I need to be productive on my prep. Also, I'm hoping for my kiddos to hold off on their December wackiness for a little bit. ...hey, a girl can dream, can't she?!

Needing -- This year has been NOTHING. BUT. ASSESSMENT. I have sight words, nonsense words, addition to 10, subtraction to 5, narrative elements, writing prompt... GAH! SO MUCH! It really saddens me how much we assess these kids.

Giving -- A Christmas writing freebie! Click HERE to download! It includes 3 different prompts on seasonal stationary. Pretty please leave feedback! :)

    1. Thank you! It took me... AGES to actually settle on one!

Honestly, the assessing is getting ridiculous. I keep trying to focus my energy on TpT products, but there's just so much data to analyze, there's no time for it.

Hopefully, I can get back to it soon and then post about how we assess here.

I'm wicked proud of myself for getting the shopping done. I'm usually SUPER late with it all! I kind of fibbed... I have a couple of other things to get for my husband, but only because the budgeting worked out really well this time around.

Have a great holiday season with your kiddos and family!

  2. I found you through the linky. I hear you on the assessments - it seems like Thanksgiving through Christmas is nothing but tests, tests, and more tests. No wonder we need a two week break afterwards. Thanks for the freebie :)
    Happy Holidays!

    1. So glad you stopped by, Storie! Thanks!! :) It is so upsetting to me that everyone... and I mean EVERYONE echoes that sentiment! That should be indicator numero uno that we have an issue! So sad... one of my kids asked me if she can stop taking tests in 2nd grade. :( It truly breaks my heart!

You're welcome on the freebie. I'm working on a larger set to cover all the holidays for this time of year, so keep an eye out for that to be posted! :)

  3. I just found your adorable blog through the Currently Linky! Love it! I know where you're coming from in regards to assessments. I'm just starting my next round of assessments in my school. As part of the Reading staff, I need to assess 50% of the school with the F&P Benchmark kit. Bring on the caffeine! ;) Happy holidays!

    1. Haha! I'm glad that it made someone else smile :)

I thought I had made it... I thought I had lucked out! But, then they went to library (library! Of all places!) and came back like they'd just indulged in a bit too much spaghetti in maple syrup!

Hopefully you are making out better than I!
